2025 New Year's Resolution
Some highlights from 2024:
- Got married
- Arai got pregnant
- Built the customer service AI app, I genuinely believe I have implemented novel ideas as one of the first one in the world, nothing technically difficult, but just thinking outside of the box.
Goals for 2025:
- Finish my data science master’s degree, I only miss the thesis and one course
- Further explore robotics and AI, before 2030 we should have further automated the last part of the picking process our Autostore warehouse. I should get an overview of the players in the field and technologies available.
- Get at least 1 developer to work under me to offload some of the work and further improve the AI app
- Continue being healthy and never stop with the basics: Sunlight, exercise, healthy food.
I think there is no substitute for knowing how things work. If I am to become a great leader I need to further my understanding of “everything”, I will probably not take a bachelor in math/physics/robotics etc. but I will try to go through all the curriculum and test myself in practical projects.

Learning languages fast - Why Duolingo sucks and more language tips
Learning languages fast - Why Duolingo sucks and more language tips
Tl;dr: Duolingo sucks because it uses “fake” content, and you should only use real content to learn, even if consuming the real content will be really slow in the start.
Motivation
The only thing that will make you learn a language is motivation. The stronger the motivation, the more likely you are to succeeed. Let’s list some motivations from strongest, to weakest:
-
Short autobiography
0-2 years
- Born in France, Paris, 1996
- Norwegian/Lithuanian mother, Soviet-born(Moldova) father
2-6
- Moved to Norway, Oslo, Sogn.
- Went to “Rektorhaugen barnehage”
6-12
- Went to Tåsen barneskole
- Played fotball, pokemon and Runescape
- Other interests: Chess and manga
- I started playing chess a bit late, around 10-11 years old
12-15
- Went to Nordberg undomskole
- Started being very interested in chess, became one of the best players in Europe
- Travelled a lot around in Norway to play tournaments
- Trained a lot and started training martial arts (kung fu + Muy Thai boxing)
- I quit ninth grade for “home schooling”, in reality I was using all my time learning to play the piano, it was an obsession.
- I started again in tenth grade at Nordberg, finished with pretty good grades
- I remember being very interested in atheism and debating
16-19
- I started on the “pre-IB” studiespesialisering at Berg high school
- I was becoming obsessed with learning, I took the whole math curriculum in 1 year (1T, R1, R2) as privatist and a few other subjects
- first year of high school I was absent almost all the time, school was “too easy” and boring
- I emailed the principal of the school, and told him I wanted to jump over the second year, it was accepted
- Finished high school in 2 years with good grades + one university math course (MAT1100, kalkulus)
- During high school I read a lot on economics theory and political theory, I was debating all the time
19-20 - “free” year
- Took a sales jobs, direct sales door-to-door, as my first “real job” ever. Learning sales is a useful skill, do not regret it.
- Became obsessed with learning new languages. Focusing mostly on latin and germanic languages.
- Worked part time at Tåsen barneskole (the same school I went to)
20-22
- Started on a computer science (programmering og nettverk) bachelor
- Finished the bachelor in 1.5 year by taking 230 study points in 3 semesters. I only used 170 of those since I had 10 points from high school (mat1100)
- This was an insane fun period, really loved studying and working with other students
21-22
- Starting working in a consultant company “Netcompany”
- Took part in 2 projects, 1 at Kulturrådet and the other at Oslo kommune
- At the same time as working fulltime I took 20 studiepoeng each semester, some physics and computer science courses like “OS”
- I was at the end of this period going back to study to finish a master in digital signal processing
22-23
- Took a summer job at Axpo nordic as data scientist, learned quite a lot about the energy market
- I ended up quitting the master studies due to 2 reasons: I was becoming very interested in accounting and starting working with “Famme” a sportswear brand two brother’s started
- I started working at Tripletex as a developer, which I contacted myself due to my interest in accounting
- I was working at the same time with “Famme”
- Learned a lot about accounting (doing årsregnskap myself for Famme)
23-26
- I quit Tripletex to continue fulltime with Famme, due to 1/3 ownership I wanted to as fastest work to grow and sell the company
- Took the role as CEO, overseeing “all departments” in Famme
- Launched respiroc.com as an accelerator for E-commerce businesses. Had many ideas and started on some of them, but I did not follow through with any of them, and ultimately the idea of an accelerator failed.
- Became very interested in SEO and achieved good results for famme.no
- Learned a diverse set of skills, everything from marketing, production, warehouse, programming etc.
- Bought apartment in Oslo. I ended up selling it shortly after, so in hindsight a waste of time.
25-26
- Started actively training again, aiming for 150 push-ups straight, 30 hang ups straight etc.
- Trying to reignite my passion for music + languages
- Not sure about what to do with my life, do I really want to use several years on E-commerce?
26-29
- Met my wife Arai 2022, we got married in 2024
- Got my first child, daughter, in 2025
- Got back fulltime into tech, I took two jobs, and the goal was just to get back “to the industry” and see if there is something I was “missing”, if the industry had evolved somehow.
- Software consultancies and product companies have not changed, a lot of “bullshit” that I don’t want to be part of.
- I started working on a customer service AI app, for now it is only used by Famme.
- At this point, I think I should only focus on software. That is where I can have the most impact, and I enjoy it the most.
- Finished my master’s degree in data science
- Still contributing to Famme as CTO
29-30
